Quora recently announced that LinkedIn members can now share Quora answers as status updates. If you’re an active Quora user, you’ll see this along with your other share options:
This is probably good news for those on Quora, but how will it affect the rest of us–beyond seeing Quora answers in our news feed? Well, I asked LinkedIn if any changes were on the horizon for LinkedIn Answers, the site’s integrated Q & A portal that happens to work a lot like Quora. (The timing of the Quora announcement combined with the recently-launched changes to LinkedIn’s profiles made me wonder.) Here’s what they said:
Why might closer integration with Quora put Answers in jeopardy? Last week in my post about LinkedIn terminating the Events feature I shared the following quote from the LinkedIn blog:
[F]rom time to time, we take a look at our set of features to evaluate how they’re being used by our members. Part of this process sometimes means we decide to eliminate a feature.
So, while it sounds like Answers is safe for now, other features may still be cut/modified as LinkedIn looks to sharpen its focus.
